About Kathmandu Institute of Applied Sciences
Kathmandu Institute of Applied Sciences (KIAS) is an autonomous, nongovernmental and not-for-profit research organization established in 2014 by a group of Nepali scientists with proven excellence in their research fields. KIAS aims to provide an intellectual leadership to the society by fostering innovations in science and technology.

KIAS focuses on RESEARCH, INNOVATION, DISCOVERY, AND OUTREACH through its three active research centers:-
- Center for Analytical Sciences
- Center for Conservation Biology
- Center for Water and Atmospheric Research
Current research projects at KIAS involve biodiversity, climate change, drought study, environmental pollution to development of new technology for biological and chemical analysis, especially suitable in low-resource settings.
Apart from regular research, KIAS organizes trainings, workshops, and science outreach programs including short-term schools and conferences targeting students, researchers and scientists. One of the flagship events organized by KIAS is the International Conference on Mountains in the Changing World (MoChWo), which is organized every year in October in Nepal.
Legal status: Registered in District Administration Office of Kathmandu (93/70/71), Inland Revenue Office, Kathmandu, and Social Welfare Council, Kathmandu.
