Dr. Kafle attended ECWS meeting in Africa

Dr. Hemu Kharel Kafle, Scientist, Centre of Water and Atmospheric Research, Kathmandu Institute of Sciences, attended fellow meeting of Early Career Women Scientists (ECWS) from the 24th to the 29th of November 2019 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The meeting included an OWSD Early Career regional workshop and several programs, including launch of the Tanzanian National Chapter. This workshop was mostly focused on the capacity development of ECWS fellows of 2018. Effective Leadership in Academia, audience engagement with research, building research communication skills, promoting ethical publishing research groups, managing career and personal lives, and making research relevant to policies were some of the topics covered by the distinguished presenters in this workshop. This annual gathering was also for the reflection of their activities for the past one year after winning the grant in the research and growth of the fellows as scientists, managers and civil citizens.

During meeting, Dr. Kafle discussed about prospect of collaborative research on climate change, drought monitoring and rural livelihoods with ECWS fellows.
